Artz In The Park
Youth Project

A Zig Zag Community Arts and Youth Action Kalamunda Project Collaboration

Stirk Park is a treasured public space that everyone in Kalamunda appreciates – it is also the home of the annual Zig Zag Festival held on the last Sunday of October every year.  This year Zig Zag Arts will be coordinating a project to design, make and install a new artwork in the park and we hope that lots of young people will join in the workshops to help us create something wonderful.

The finished artwork will form a balustrade around the ‘Checker Board Stage’ in Stirk Park and will incorporate wrought iron panels and original youth designed murals to create a permanent attraction in the park.

We are looking for young people who are interested in joining a series of workshops in metal working and in mural painting

Youth Action Kalamunda is collaborating on the project.  The blacksmithing workshops will be in collaboration with the Shire of Kalamunda’s Youth Activities Program.   The workshops will be held at the Anderson Street Centre in Forrestfield.

A picture they say is worth mobs of words, so have a peek at an artist’s impression of the finished Artz in the Park Project.  The designs for the wrought iron and the mural panels will be different of course, they will both be designed by young people who attend the workshops in October.
