Bush Dance 2011
Saturday 2 April 2011 6pm to 9pm
Stirk Park, Kalamunda

Bush Dances have been an Australian celebration since - well ages - !

Perth used to have regular Bush Dances at Whiteman Park, but not since 2006

Zig Zag Community Arts is bringing the tradition back - and doing it in Kalamunda

In Stirk Park on Saturday 2 April there was a traditional Bush Dance, with dance callers and dance demonstrators - it was a real family evening.  This was the third time Zig Zag had organised the Bush Dance, and the crowd said they'd like to have more.

The bands knew all the classic Bush Band tunes (even if Kevin repeated a couple of verses of the Ryebuck Shearer until he remembered the next verse properly!)

Numguts
is one of WA's premier bush bands and Black Chook Chutney had been preparing for ages.  On the day their numbers were down with members interstate and overseas but they were still a big group.

As an added extra Madjitil Moorna Choir performed too, building up to a huge finish with the Halls Creek Rodeo Song with all the musicians on stage backing the Choir.
